There are noticeable differences between a ‘normal sized’ project and a ‘really big’ project. Obviously, the size of the project, but that also affects the time required…an element that I tend to consider less than I should. Focus can be an issue on some projects, especially the larger ones, which require a larger time commitment. Necromunda offers a dynamic and structurally challenging gaming experience. This is doubly true if you have lots of scenery. Furthering this dynamism are the two gaming setting of Sector Mechanicus (Sprawling and ever climbing vertical play area) and Zone Mortalis (essentially a flat gaming area) both distinct and very different from each other. This month I (could have…) had a good shot at finishing up all the little projects from The Book Of Peril. Unfortunately, while doing these, I had a great idea for a really large project…so, this article marks the ‘almost finished’ point and will also begin a massive build that will be revealed in an article or two. What does it all mean? The Book Of Peril is hobby value. Buy it!
Last time I set the rather lofty goal of getting together all the superfluous models and scenery needed to play in the Badzones settings of the Book of Peril. While I like nothing more than fleshing out my tabletop world, I am always cognizant of the costs involved. Which is to say that Games Workshop stuff is the top of the pile in price as well as quality.
Having amassed enough models and scenery, and now waiting for a future time to play, I find myself looking around the hobby desk for some small and simple time-filling projects to keep me busy while I enjoy my alone time from the gaming table. One of the main aims of my Necromunda fixation is to produce a table so choked with terrain that models will be lucky to ever have long range on their opponents, ensuring some close combat as well as crazy shooting.
More scenery means more violence!
‘More’ is all fine and good but I need a break from spending money. Pretty simple to backwards engineer the project from there: More Stuff + No Money = Garbage for Materials…

Cue Virus lock-down…
With no small amount of effort and time already spent on construction of modest Sector Mechanicus and Zone Mortalis playing areas behind me, I was looking forward to writing up my gang cards and getting some games in against other, actual humans. Alas, this was not yet to be. Rather than get bogged down and just starting in on yet another Netflix binge I thought I’d use lock-down to get busy!

Before I get up to speed on my (slightly larger than I realized…) Zone Mortalis scenery project, I thought I’d just finish up a few more ‘add-on’ pieces for my Sector Mechanicus stuff.
