A quick update this week on some new game announcements from the last couple of weeks.

Renegade Game Studios announced Passing Through Petra:

In Passing Through Petra, players will push trading tiles through the three-dimensional canyon walls, add tiles to their marketplace, and use the unique movement-based action selection to spread their influence across the land. Coming soon in October, the game includes pre-painted Merchant Pawns, recessed Player Boards, and plastic Canyon Walls, all of which immediately immerse players in the theme.

At the intersection of the most well-traveled trade routes in the old world lies a city within rose-colored cliffs. A place where caravans miles long enter the city, through a narrow canyon called “the Siq.” Inside, traders from faraway lands find shelter and a place to trade their wares among the stunning buildings carved into towering red rocks. This is Petra, and never before or since has there been a city quite like it.

In Passing Through Petra, you are a powerful citizen growing your settlement and your reputation. As caravans pass through the canyons, you’ll welcome traders into your market and facilitate trade with those looking to get their hands on valuable wares. Use these transactions to spread your influence and gain unique benefits to grow your economic engine. Spread your influence the quickest to become the most powerful leader in Petra!

Passing Through Petra is expected sometime in October.

KAP+Pendragon+5.1

Chaosium Inc will assist Nocturnal Media in the release and distribution of Greg Stafford’s King Arthur Pendragon RPG:

“After Stewart’s passing, Steve Wieck met with us and we offered to be there to help him and Jennifer in any way we could. We’ve all agreed that Chaosium is well placed to assist Nocturnal sell and market Pendragon, get its products into distribution, and help with the fulfilment of several of its Kickstarters. Going forward this includes co-branding many of its forthcoming products.” (Chaosium President Rick Meints)

Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig is being published by Stonemaier Games as part of a collaboration with Bezier Games:

Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig is a competitive tile-drafting game in which each tile is a room in a castle. You work together with the player on your left to design one castle, and with the player on your right on another castle. On each turn you select two tiles from your hand, reveal them, then work with your partners to place them.

At the end of the game, each castle is scored. Your personal final score is the lower of the scores of the two castles you helped design, and the player with the highest final score wins the game. To win, you have to share your attention and your devotion between two castles.

Street Date for this title is October 19, 2018.

Z-Man games has announced the 9th expansion for the Carcassonne reprint: Hills & Sheep:

The shepherd carefully watches over his flock as they wander through the fields. Over time the flock can grow but be careful; if you wait too long to return your flock to the stable, wolves may attack! After placing a tile with a field, you may choose to place a shepherd and immediately draw a token from the cloth bag. Drawing a sheep token will increase your flock. However, if you draw a wolf token the flock will scatter. Press your luck to grow your flock for additional points.

Get a better view with the hills and gain the advantage from the high ground. Hill tiles are elevated with another tile facedown beneath them. When scoring, the meeple on the hill will break a tie and claim the points. Add thriving vineyards to grow wine around a monastery and increase its value. Watch out for sabotage from your opponents! Only a completed monastery can claim the bonus points from the vineyards.

Hills & Sheep is scheduled to arrive during Q4 of this year.
