Here is a rundown of the games our staff have been playing this past week
Terraforming Mars: Venus Next Expansion– The second expansion for the Terraforming Mars base game has players building flying cities and making the atmosphere more hospitable on the deadly planet Venus.
Terraforming Mars: Hellas and Elysium Expansion – The first expansion for Terraforming Mars consists of a double-sided game board presenting two new areas of Mars, with each map providing a new sets of milestones and awards.
Tsuro -A beautiful and simple game of laying a tile before your own token to continue its path on each turn. The goal is to keep your token on the board longer than anyone else’s.
Codenames – Two teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin.
Battlekittens – You are one of the cat king’s royal cat herders, assigned to draft the cutest, strongest, wisest, and most agile kittens in the kingdom. Players begin by drafting adorably ferocious kitten cards, then dividing them into squads and deploying those squads to the battlefields.
Charterstone – A competitive legacy game where you construct buildings and populate a shared village. Building stickers are permanently added to the game board and become action spaces for any player to use. Thus, you start off with simple choices and few workers, but soon you have a bustling village with dozens of possible actions.
Lords of Waterdeep – A strategy board game for 2-5 players where you take on the role of one of the masked Lords of Waterdeep, secret rulers of the city. Through your agents, you recruit adventurers to go on quests on your behalf, earning rewards and increasing your influence over the city. Expand the city by purchasing new buildings that open up new actions on the board, and hinder – or help – the other lords by playing Intrigue cards to enact your carefully laid plans.
Unfair – Build the city’s greatest theme park, whatever it takes! Mix your favourite themes, from Pirate, Robot, Vampire, Jungle, Ninja, and Gangster. Build attractions and upgrade them to match blueprints, stack up towering rides, or simply make the most cash. But watch out – your competitors may pay off the safety inspectors to close your rides or hire hooligans to vandalise your park!
Dutch Blitz – Each player has their own deck of forty cards, and playing at the same time, each player tries to be the first to empty their blitz pile.
Formula D – A high stakes Formula One type racing game where the players race simulated cars with the hope of crossing the finish line first.
Mysterium – One player takes the role of ghost while everyone else represents a medium. To solve the crime, the ghost must first recall (with the aid of the mediums) all of the suspects present on the night of the murder.
When I Dream – The night has fallen and your mind is floating in the magical world of dreams. But the Dream Spirits want to have some fun tonight! They are giving their best and the dreams become strange and surreal. Become the dreamer, put on your sleeping mask and try to figure out your dream and which spirits are the Naughty ones. Become a good spirit and help the Dreamer by giving him clues about the dream before the naughty spirits mess it up.
Red Dragon Inn: Battle for Greyport – A cooperative deck-building game based on the characters and world of The Red Dragon Inn. You will travel to important locations around the city, fighting epic battles and recruiting whatever heroes and items you can along the way. Each encounter presents more opportunities to improve your deck, but also brings more dire foes for you to face!
Dungeons & Dragons – The classic roleplaying game. Ask Gord about his campaign.
