Here is a list of the games our staff have been playing this past week.

Warhammer: Shadespire – Warhammer Underworlds is a tactical arena combat game. The forces you can use in this game will be drawn from races across the Mortal Realms, including some for factions that have not received any new miniatures since we first ventured into the Age of Sigmar.

X-Com – An abstract skirmish level squad combat board & card game for 2 players, based on the X-Com video games. One player plays X-Com units, the other the Aliens.

The Bloody Inn – You are one of the competitive innkeepers, bent on amassing the most wealth. Unfortunately, your morals hinder you from robbing your guests… at least while they’re alive. Fortunately, your scruples have no qualms with murder.

Flick ’em Up – In this disc-flicking game, you can become an outlaw and rob banks, free prisoners, attack innocent bystanders… or you could become the Sheriff and try to protect the people of your city from these bandits!

  • Games Workshop release Chaos Warscroll Updates

13 warscolls have been updated to include the Monsters of Chaos keyword. This means that you’ll be able to add them to your army as allies (where eligible) and still keep your allegiance abilities.

  • WizKids Announces New Partnership with Games Workshop

WizKids revealed a multi-year partnership with acclaimed fantasy miniatures company, Games Workshop. The new partnership will extend the Warhammer 40,000 universe IP across multiple categories, including, Dice Building Games™, board games and more!

Here is a list of the games our staff have been playing this past week.

X-Wing – Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game is a tactical ship-to-ship combat game in which players take control of powerful Rebel X-wings and nimble Imperial TIE fighters, facing them against each other in fast-paced space combat.

Star Realms – Star Realms is a fast paced deck-building card game of outer space combat. It combines the fun of a deck-building game with the interactivity of Trading Card Game style combat.

Salem – Salem incites the atmosphere of paranoia that held the village of Salem captive. Players act with the assumption that there are witches among them (and, in this case, there will be). Game play is simple: try to rid the village of witches and keep the identities of your own residents secret!

Sushi Go Party – Sushi Go Party!, an expanded version of the best-selling card game Sushi Go!, is a party platter of mega maki, super sashimi, and endless edamame.

Coup – In Coup, you want to be the last player with influence in the game, with influence being represented by face-down character cards in your playing area.

Barenpark – Bärenpark takes you into the world of bears, challenging you to build your own bear park. Would you like another polar bear enclosure or rather a koala* house? The park visitors are sure to get hungry on their tour through the park, so build them places to eat! Whatever your choices are, make sure you get the next building permit and use your land wisely!

Fuse – Fuse is a real-time co-operative game that employs 25 dice and 65 cards. Each game is set to a ten-minute timer, and players must work together in that ten minutes to defuse all of the bombs. Each bomb is represented by a card which needs a certain combination of dice in order to defuse it.

Give me the Brain – A card game in which players take on the roles of zombies in a fast-food restaurant in hell. They all have to complete a number of tasks before leaving work, and the work keeps piling on. Even worse, some of the tasks require basic intelligence and there’s only one brain to go around.

Space Empires – Space Empires is a game in the finest tradition of 4X space games – eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. Each player builds up a space empire and uses it to conquer the other players.

Infinity – Infinity is a game with 28mm high metal miniatures that simulates combat and special operations in a science fiction environment with Manga aesthetics.

Terraforming Mars – You play one of the giant corporations terraforming Mars.  You work together in the terraforming process, but compete for  victory points that are awarded not only for your contribution to the terraforming, but also for advancing human infrastructure throughout the solar system, and doing other commendable things.

  • Near and Far: Amber Mines from Red Raven Games

Golden Amber fills the deep mines, it’s fiery, cold embers glowing in the ancient rocks. Scholars say that the Arzians valued it above gold or silver, and wore it as a sign of wealth. Perhaps the rare substance holds forgotten secrets about the long-dead empire and their lust for power? Near and Far: Amber Mines is the first expansion to Near and Far, and includes modules that you can add or remove according to your preference.

  • Cahoots from Mayday Games

Cahoots, a trick-taking card game in which you are forced to conspire (be “in cahoots”) with each of your opponents to win. Cooperate, negotiate, backstab, and bluff your way to a win in this world of noir and espionage. You can’t trust anyone, but you’ve got to work together to score points because even though you win by yourself, you can’t win alone!

Colony Wars – Colony Wars is a deckbuilding game in the Star Realms series which is both a standalone box set for two players and an expansion for the base Star Realms set that allows it to be played as a four-player game.

Splendor – Players are merchants of the Renaissance trying to buy gem mines, means of transportation, shops—all in order to acquire the most prestige points.

Ticket to Ride: Europe – Ticket to Ride: Europe takes you on a new train adventure across Europe. From Edinburgh to Constantinople and from Lisbon to Moscow, you’ll visit great cities of turn-of-the-century Europe.

Arkham Horror – Arkham Horror is a cooperative adventure game themed around H.P Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. Players choose from 16 Investigators and take to the streets of Arkham.

Mountains of Madness – 1931: Your scientific expedition discovers a new and intriguing mountain range in the middle of the Antarctic polar circle. Under these challenging conditions, the survival of your team will depend on your ability to communicate with each other and to coordinate your efforts to overcome each obstacle — but what you discover on the way to the highest peak will strongly test your mental health.

Scythe – Scythe is an engine-building game set in an alternate-history 1920s period. Each player represents a character from one of five factions of Eastern Europe who are attempting to earn their fortune and claim their faction’s stake in the land around the mysterious Factory. Players conquer territory, enlist new recruits, reap resources, gain villagers, build structures, and activate monstrous mechs.

Bloodborne – Bloodborne: The Card Game is based on the Chalice Dungeons in the video game Bloodborne — the ever-changing labyrinths and tombs carved out by the Great Ones beneath the fallen city of Yharnam, where horrifying creatures reside. Players compete to kill monsters and take their blood.

Codenames Duet – Codenames Duet keeps the basic elements of Codenames — give one-word clues to try to get someone to identify your agents among those on the table — but now you’re working together as a team to find all of your agents.

Rise and Fall – Players play either Eastern or Western Rome, Persia or a barbarian horde. A strategic game that portrays the last days of Rome.

Seafall – SeaFall is a 4X-inspired game (without player elimination/extermination) set in an “age of sail” world reminiscent of our world.

  • Renegade Game Studios and Oni Press to release The Tea Dragon Society Card Game

Adapted from the Oni Press original graphic novel by Katie O’Neill, The Tea Dragon Society Card Game is a game which entwines players into the enchanting world of Tea Dragons, and is expected to release in 2018.
