New releases for Monday November 30th, 2015

Our prayers to the snow daemons have finally been answered and a fresh shipment of Dead of Winter has been delivered to the store. Not only that but our sacrifices of last place players at Friday Night Magic have also resulted in us receiving a bounty of new games.

Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn by Plaid Hat Games

Not technically new, but we missed out on the first set of deliveries for the game so this is new for us.

Ready yourself for Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn, the breathtaking first release in our newest expandable game system from acclaimed designer Isaac Vega.

Featuring visionary art by Fernanda Suarez, Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn introduces the world of Argaia, where powerful Phoenixborn have saved humanity and now face off against each other to claim ultimate godhood.

Takenoko Chibis by Matagot

A long time ago, the Emperor of China offered to the Emperor of Japan a giant panda, a symbol of peace. Your delicate mission: Take care of the animal by planning a bamboo field. Now as a reward for your great work, you are being offered a second panda…a female!

Takenoko: Chibis includes a miniature of the female panda, nine different tiles for the baby pandas, six plot tiles, 18 cards, and 17 bamboo pieces.

El Grande Big Box by Z-Man Games

In El Grande, players take on the roles of Grandes in medieval Spain. The king’s power is flagging, and these powerful lords are vying for control of the various regions. To that end, you draft caballeros (knights in the form of meeples) into your court and subsequently move them onto the board to help seize control of regions. After every third round, the regions are scored, and after the ninth round, the player with the most points is the winner.

El Grande Big Box, the 20th anniversary edition of El Grande, includes all previously published expansions: Grand Inquisitor & Colonies, Grandissimo, King & Intrigant, King & Intrigant: Players’ Edition and King & Intrigant: Special Cards as well as something currently known only as the “Anniversary Extension”.

Russian Railroads: German Railroads by Z-Man Games

Russian Railroads: German Railroads is the first expansion for Russian Railroads and requires the base game to play. This expansion consists of three different, independent modules:

1) Germany game board
A brand new game board with new routes and, consequently, completely new opportunities and strategies to follow. For example, the distances are not fixed, which means that all options are open and not equal to vary the flow compared to the standard game.
2) Coal age
This module breaks up familiar strategies through the addition of a coal resource. Coal can be used to improve locomotives and factories, or it can also be used in foundries. These new foundries bring in a decent income when they are fired with coal. Alternatively, coal may also enhance a locomotive or the effect of a factory, if used as a heat source.
3) Single ticket

This module is a solo version, which features a dummy opponent that occupies different spots and tries to stop the player from achieving high scoring.

Carcassonne Over Hill and Dale by Z-Man Games

They say agriculture is the most noble employment of man, and Carcassonne: Over Hill and Dale wanted to offer players the gratifying feeling of providing for the people. In this new game, towns and castles make room for fields of fruits and vegetables. Collect them all, build stables to house animals, and walk down a hill to make even more points!

Flick ‘Em Up by Pretzel Games

Split up into two clans et prepare to face your rivals in the purest of Western traditions!

Flick’em Up is a surprising dexterity game for 2 to 10 players. Will you join the Sheriff and his gang or will you be part of the fearsome Cooper clan?

A wooden 3D figurine with a removable cowboy hat represents each character.

The Voyages of Marco Polo by Z-Man Games

In 1271, 17-year-old Marco Polo started on a journey to China with his father and older brother. After a long and gruelling journey that led through Jerusalem and Mesopotamia and over the “Silk Road”, they reached the court of Kublai Khan in 1275.
In The Voyages of Marco Polo, players recreate this journey, with each player having a different character and special power in the game. The game is played over five rounds. Each round, the players roll their five personal dice and can perform one action each turn with them.

After five rounds, the game ends with players receiving victory points for arriving in Beijing, fulfilling the most orders, and having reached the cities on secret city cards that each player gets at the start of the game; these points are added to the VPs gained during the game.

Tail Feathers by Plaid Hat Games

Villainous rats have allied with vicious hunting birds to pillage the humble mouse settlement across Meanderfield. But look! Brave mice, mounted on starlings and blue jays, swoop in to wage war against this evil alliance! The Downwood Militia soars into action against the Vermin Raiders!

Plaid Hat Games proudly presents Tail Feathers, the exciting new miniature skirmish game by our very own Jerry Hawthorne set in the beloved world of Mice and Mystics. Soar across the table, send your troops on dangerous missions, lock beaks with opposing birds, and defend your nest!

Skyliners by Z-Man Games

It is every architect’s dream to change the face of a city, and playing Skyliners offers you just that.

In this new strategic game, players need to erect towers out of the Skyliners’ box itself, piling floors on top of each other in order to obtain the best view possible!

Unless you’d rather spend you time ruining your opponents’ view?

Black Ops by Osprey Publishing

Black Ops is a skirmish wargame of tactical espionage combat that recreates the tension and excitement of modern action-thrillers such as the Bond and Bourne films. The fast-play rules keep all the players in the thick of the action, while the mission generator provides a wide range of options for scenarios – from stealthy extraction or surveillance missions to more overt raids and assaults. Stealth, combat, and technical expertise all have a role to play, and players may recruit a number of different operative types – spies, mercenaries, criminals, hackers, special forces, and many more – to recruit the best possible team for the job. Players may also choose to join a faction – powerful organizations, intelligence agencies, criminal syndicates, militaries, or rebel groups, each with a stake in international affairs. By doing so, their team may receive certain benefits, but may also find itself limited at a crucial time. With the variety offered by the characters, factions, and scenarios, no two games of Black Ops should ever be the same!
