New releases for Thursday Nov. 21st, 2015

Something evil and eldritch has entered the store and its not just local social media wonk Zac this time. The store has received stock of Shadows over Normandie, the Cthulhu inspired expansion of the Heroes of Normandie WWII-action game.

And we got some other stuff as well, nothing as evil though unless you count Fluxx.

New Dawn by Stronghold Games

Twenty years after the Alliance was formed, the cost of constructing new space stations is becoming unbearable.

In order to improve the economy, the Alliance has decided to rebuild and recolonize some of the planets and space facilities who were abandoned during the war. By activating them once more, the Alliance is hoping to acquire the much needed funds and resources.

In New Dawn – a thematic sequel to Among the Stars and part of the Among the Stars Universe series – players take the role of Alliance officials.

Their assignment is to explore and revive a galactic sector. By developing various technologies and dispatching ambassadors, each player has the chance to visit abandoned planets, military facilities and space stations and establish bases to maintain control. Competition is fierce, and each mistake in maintaining control can cost dearly…

Both New Dawn and Among the Stars: Revival are compatible with the Among The Stars: Miniatures Pack accessory, which brings even more thematic elements and a great look to your games in the Among the Stars Universe.

Shadows over Normandie by Devil Pig Games

1944. The shadow of Cthulhu looms over Normandy…

The Normandy countryside in this remarkable summer of 1944… “I’ll never forget the people I met braving those angry skies; I remember well as the shadows fell, the light of hope in their eyes.” You know the song…

However, the course of the story is about to change radically.

Our beloved heroes from Hollywood movies thought they would take a well deserved rest. But nay! They are not ready for this new and horrific threat. The horror creeps on the battlefield and we will have to call for help the esoteric specialized sections.

Cthulhu Mythos Call #1 by Devil Pig Games

Some thought that with the destruction of the Deep Ones village, peace had returned to Normandy and the Madness shadows had dispersed.

In the shadows, new pawns move and come to threaten this apparent “peace”. The war was continuing elsewhere in a more “conventional”.

From misty recesses of the Normandy campaign, the Sons of Cthulhu begin to chant their dark prayers to their god that is just as.
In villages deserted by war, an insane scientist tries terrible experiences on combat deaths. A new life seems to rise, accompanied by the roar of those who should not walk.

Civilians Under Fire by Devil Pig Games

Despite the ambitions of the Vichy regime, proud resistants rise up to fight. Follow Gisèle in the liberation of his companions.

Support Alexandre, brave and happy mayor, in his fight against oppression. Help Father Bernard to save the souls of his poor flock.
But be careful. In front of you are fearful opponents! The Gestapo keeps a close eye on things, led by the dangerous Ilda and her bodyguards, men as dogs.

The population, despite the conflict, will not remain inactive and will colonize your battlefields. From Papy and his gun to Toto and his slingshot, via the waitress and her seduction.

Guardian Chronicles expansion pack by Devil Pig Games

Heroes of Heroes of Normandy opened the liberation paths of Europe. This has been made possible with strong and powerful icons, going beyond what the simple man could do.

These men and women have become something greater. They have become superheroes!

Fast, agile, endowed with extraordinary faculties, with mythical equipment or advanced technology.

Send Captain Justice, the Super Yankee, at the front. He will stand in the front line of German armies, equipped with its only strength and patriotism. Meanwhile, Lady Britain will illuminate the dark sky with mighty lightnings.

12 Days of Christmas by Eagle Gryphon Games

12 Days of Christmas is a card game designed by Dr. Gord Hamilton. It’s designed for 3-8 players, ages 8+, to be played in 20-30 minutes. Simple enough for the whole family to play, yet strategic enough for the game geeks in the family to enjoy along with everyone else! A fast, fun, holiday treat! Deal out all of the cards as evenly as possible to all players. Each player attempts to give away all of their cards before the other players by following the lead established by the first player. Timing is everything (and of course having the right cards to play at the right time certainly helps as well!)

Nature Fluxx by Looney Labs

Nature Fluxx is the next evolution of EcoFluxx. It maintains the same cards and gameplay, but updates the card frame art and packaging. Full of plants and elements and things that-eat-other-things, Nature Fluxx will remind and teach everyone about the wonders of nature (all while playing an all-natural game of Fluxx)!

King’s Kilt by Eagle Gryphon Games

King’s Kilt is a new card game from Gord Hamilton for two to four players for ages 10 and up. Play time is 20 minutes.

Wield your influence over the clans to win power and prestige for your family in the struggle for the Scottish crown.
Players start with 3 hidden Clan Members that represent their candidates to promote to the throne.

Players vie to place their candidates within the hierarchy of clan members in their quest to ascend the throne. Treachery can also be used to eliminate opponents in their way.

At the end of the game, if the player’s candidates match the clan of the King, the Guardians or the Nobles, they will score victory points and will hopefully prove their right to the seat of power in Scotland!

Krakatoa by Eagle Gryphon Games

Krakatoa is an explosive dice game from Joli Quentin Kansil, with a new production by Eagle-Gryphon Games.  First published (only 500 copies were produced) in 1983, it has become virtually impossible to find.  Players vie to score the most points after six rounds of tossing three sets of custom-made (for us only) hand-painted 12-sided dice.  All dice have faces showing a colored dot in Yellow, Red or Blue:

Seven 7s by Eagle Gryphon Games

This small box game designed Jason Tagmire reminds me a lot of Red7 where the cards you play change the dynamics of the game constantly.  There are Seven “suits” of cards in seven colors going up to the number 7.  You are trying to to have the highest valued cards at the end of the game doing so by playing other cards which will modify the value of your hand.

Dead Man’s Chest by Eagle Gryphon Games

DEAD MAN’S CHEST is an exciting and fast dice game of bidding and bluffing for 3 to 8 pirates. To win, you must be the last Pirate standing. A Pirate rolls the dice in the Treasure Chest and passes it closed to the next Pirate while claiming a value. You always read the two dice by declaring the higher die first, for example, a 1 and a 5 would be claimed as 51. The claims ascend from 31 to 65 and then through the doubles from 1’s to double 6’s. The highest claim is Dead Man which is a 2 and a 1.

Pirate Loot by Minotaur Games

There is treasure out there to be had, mountains of stolen gold and priceless relics, but there’s more than one pirate with his eye set on the prize. Only the best crew will come home with the loot, while the rest will be lucky just to make it back alive.
Pirate Loot is a game of adventure and treachery on the high seas. Each player takes on the role of ship captain, recruiting pirates to form the best possible crew and beat the other captains to the loot. The first captain to get enough loot to satisfy his crew wins the game.

Pirate Loot 6-Player Expansion by Minotaur Games

Got to many scurvy dogs at your game table for the base game of Pirate Loot. With this expansion, you can play Pirate Loot with up to 6 players! This deck adds two new pirate factions to the game and includes new pirate cards for the factions from the Base Game. This expansion requires the Base Game to play.
